Report published on environmental protection at our Munich site

The direct environmental impact of a financial service provider like Munich Re is small compared with that of a manufacturing firm. Nevertheless, we are constantly working hard to reduce our emissions and consumption of resources. We have an indirect influence on the environment through our products. Active environmental management can make a contribution to reducing risks and utilising opportunities.

In the Munich Re reinsurance group, the Munich site has an environmental management system that complies with the international standard ISO 14001 and the European Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) regulation. The system thus covers approximately every second employee of the reinsurance group. The 2007 environmental statement provides information on the latest environmental indicators and the status of our measures in the areas of reinsurance, asset management and operational ecology.
