Equal opportunity in practice: With its active policy on integration and the severely disabled, the Munich Re Group persistently reinforces its position as a "preferred employer".

Employing and integrating disabled people is an important aspect of the Munich Re Group's human resources policy.

There is a representative body for severely disabled staff at all Group companies. It promotes the integration of severely disabled people in company operations, represents their interests in the company, and provides them with advice and assistance.

The body's activities include
  • providing assistance with applications to pensions authorities for recognition of an existing disability and applications to labour authorities for disabled status;
  • ensuring that laws, directives, and works agreements relating to disabled persons are observed; and
  • acting as a clearing house for complaints from disabled persons and – if they appear justified – pressing for an appropriate response via the staff council through negotiations with the employer.
