Learning with impact – Theory with practice

As a forward-looking, knowledge-based company, we offer our staff comprehensive further training opportunities. Our seminars comprise a variety of different teaching and learning methods, including e-learning modules.

Munich Re’s e-learning platform, available to its employees throughout the world, provides first-class tutorials, most of which have been developed in-house. Through its involvement with a panel of German Insurance Academy experts, Munich Re also helps set industry standards which ensure that tutorials have practical application beyond corporate boundaries (SAVE 1.0).

Apart from providing training opportunities for our own staff, we were involved in a joint initiative in October 2002 when, along with other leading German companies, we founded the European School of Management and Technology (ESMT) in Berlin. The aim of this international business school is to groom entrepreneurial leaders in a European context, to improve European management training standards, and thus to enhance Europe’s competitiveness on the world stage.

We help to finance the ESMT, and contributed to its endowment capital. Since 1998, Munich Re has also helped to fund the Bavarian Academy of Sciences. Munich Re is co-founder of a new, in-service Executive Master of Insurance course which will be offered by the Ludwig Maximilian University (as of the 2007/2008 winter semester), having been involved in the programme content as well as its structure and financing. All in all, we have significantly extended our commitment in the field of education.
