Helping others to help themselves
There are certain personal problems at work or home where people need the help and support of experts. The Munich Re Group helps its employees to deal with such problems.
Occupational social work
Our social counselling service is there for all our employees if they need to talk about or work through problems (in some of our Group companies other facilities provide this service). The guiding principle of "helping others to help themselves" enhances personal orientation and decision-making in critical life situations. Where necessary, social counselling staff can refer employees who need professional help to medical, therapeutic or social centres, external advice bureaus or self-help groups.
Occupational social work is an area dealing with highly personal matters. Trust is important, while discretion and confidentiality are basic prerequisites. All of our social counsellors are therefore required by law not to disclose any personal information to which they are privy.
