Health

In spite of all the progress, there are diseases that have not yet been conquered. Companies of the Munich Re Group help where insurance alone does not suffice.

Karstadt Quelle Versicherungen AG – We are glad to help

The staff of Karstadt Quelle Versicherungen AG have for many years been volunteering their services to help children suffering from cancer. As the largest single sponsor, the company supports the Madeleine Schickedanz "KinderKrebs" Foundation. Madeleine Schickedanz established this foundation in 1990 after her daughter Caroline conquered leukaemia. The foundation’s objective is ongoing improvement of cancer therapy for infants.

Deutsche Krankenversicherung (DKV): Our focus is on people

Since 1997, DKV has been working with the German Hygiene Museum (DHM) in Dresden and is an institutional sponsor of this all-round museum of human sciences. Throughout its 100-year history, the museum has focused on human beings: their health, diseases and anatomy. Today as well, the museum takes upon itself the task of disseminating knowledge about health in a form suitable for everyday life and using modern methods, which is a goal that DKV as the largest private health insurer in Europe is also committed to. DKV places funds at the disposal of the German Hygiene Museum within the legal form of a public-private partnership that benefits not only cooperation projects, but also museum work as a whole, and thus society as well.

Among other things, DKV funds ensure timely presentation of new exhibitions. The DKV thus helps to sensitise the public to health topics – and the broad discussion motivates people to act independently.

Our Spanish company DKV Seguros is making a long-term contribution to greater social commitment: its client call-centre is staffed solely by physically disabled colleagues – a project supported by the company's own foundation, Fundación Integral. Inspired by this idea, ERGO Hestia in Poland has set up a similar foundation.

Munich Reinsurance Company of Canada

Our subsidiary Munich Reinsurance Company of Canada has been sponsoring breast cancer research and providing education and information on this insidious disease since 1996. It also supports the battle against heart disease and strokes as well as the Canadian Multiple Sclerosis Society.
